It was a dark and stormy night.....
Well, not really ~ but that's how all the spooky stories start right?
There I was in the fading evening light... admiring my hardly little marigolds....
My Morning glories have drooped into sad little ghostly shapes.
The Zinnias have wizzled and mostly have fizzled ~ from the chillin' they got from the frost.
I heard a rustle; and turn to see a blurry apparition behind me.
Hmmmmm I thought, must be my eyes playing tricks.
But I got the feeling SOMETHING was watching me...
with a cold glassy eyed stare.
He looked pretty happy, but I decided I better go inside anyway.
and like after watching a tense scary movie, my nerves were a little on edge.... so I peep under my art table before I sat down, just in case....
plus, I'd recently heard about another lovely artist girl who found out she wasn't alone!
...you can go see what she found here --> Catherine Constance
Low and behold.... I WASN'T alone.
And what to my wondering eyes did appear you ask?
..................
This Raggle Taggle band of Halloween Merry Makers!
This is Burble....
(his Mother was a Marshmallow Peep, and his Father was a Circus Peanut)
What a happy fellow his is ~ Gives great big soft hugs!
(he wears a belt bag, cuz he has no pockets to hold is Candy Corn.)
Pirate Pete was there next to him...
He wears a tennis ball on the end of his peg leg so he doesn't clomp so much when he walks.
And, one of his ears is a bit oversized... a side effect of wearing that big heavy gold earring for so long. But his best mate Soot the cat doesn't mind, and loves him anyway!
And then there's Wallace, he's a distant cousin to Sasquatch ~ but he's not as shy.
He always wears his fancy socks with the pom poms on when the weather turns cold.
He never goes anyplace with out Louisa the Mouse ~ best of friends they are.
(he named her after Louisa on Doc Martin, his favorite show from BBC)
And last but not least was Martin. He's a bit of a nervous fellow... and he's afraid of the dark.
So he carries a flashlight in his pocket to shed a little light in the dark corners.
I felt so much better after meeting them... that I decided to go have one more look around outside.
and sure enough.... there in the underbrush....
Was a tiny little mouse...
She raised her Pumpkin Lantern in greeting.
and the Pumpkin Patch smiled up at me too.
Wonderful things can happen sometimes, given the chance,
and a little bit of bravery...
Wishing you Happy Hauntings ~ and delightful discoveries!
Scary stories make me clutch my heart in fright... glad this one had a happy ending! signed, Pinchy T. Squirrel |
and P.S ~ though I'm not into sports,
I would give two thumbs up to our Red Sox baseball team for winning the World Series!!
and a happy Halloween to you too!
